Once upon a time…
C’era una volta…
There was a mommy una mamma who loved Italy. Her name was Patrizia. When she was a little girl she lived in Italy and went to a wonderful school una bella scuola. She loved ice cream gelato and water taxis vaporetti and the beauty of the language.
When she grew up she moved to America and worked for fancy Italian companies. Then she had a little boy un piccolo bambino named William, and she loved him very, very much.
She wanted him to skip along the canals in Venice, eat spaghetti in Rome, throw stones off ancient river bridges in the beautiful cities
le bellissime citta all over Italy. And she wanted him to speak Italian.
But Patrizia was sad. Even though they lived in New York City, surrounded by all the glorious cultures of the world, she couldn’t find Italian lessons for her bambino. No one sang the sweet Italian songs canzoncine in Italiano she remembered from her childhood.
Late one night a little Italian fairy una piccola fata Italiana came and sprinkled pixie dust on Patrizia. She dreamed of an enchanting Italian language playgroup in a magical place filled with giggling children, fluttering butterflies farfalle, books and toys libri e giocattoli, stuffed animals and puppets, musical instruments and games--and William, watching a glittering carousel giostra go round and round.
Now Patrizia shares her dream suo sogno in many languages tante lingue, with many children tanti bambini and their wonderful families.
